Downland Village Lunch

Thursday 8th July 12.45 pm at Alciston and Selmeston Village Hall
A delicious meal of fresh local produce in a friendly atmosphere at £3.50 per head for all village members. Free transport is available; please book on 870512 or 811285 by the end of the week before. If you have already booked but then find you cannot make it, please let us know before the end of the week beforehand.

The Inter-Village Croquet Tournament

Saturday 10th July, late afternoon at Old Postman's Cottage. Alciston
The event will be on Saturday, 10th July at 6 pm onwards for spectators, with the teams assembling earlier. Teams are now being selected and some are practicing. As before, there will be a team from each village and a clergy team led by the Bishop of Lewes (Wallace Benn).
With an enlarged benefice now including Arlington and Wilmington, we are trying to arrange for their involvement with a third lawn so that three matches can be played at the same time. Drinks, nibbles and a raffle will accompany play. Anyone from the four parishes will be most welcome and also volunteers to help with preparations or on the day.

One Night Summer Camp

From 5.00 pm Friday 16th July - 9.30 am Saturday 17th July
The beautiful large field just to the north of the churchyard at Berwick is the venue for our summer camp by kind permission of Mr John Flecks. Adults and children from across the Benefice are welcome.
Please bring games to play. It is a large field and there is plenty of room. There will be a bring and share BBQ.
If you have a portable BBQ that you can bring that would be a great help.
You are welcome to come just for BBQ and evening social fun if you don't want to camp. We hope that people from all five villages and of all ages will come.

Am I the Painter, Or am I God's Canvas?

Saturday 24th July 2010 8.30am at Hayton Baker Hall, adjacent to the church in Ripe.
The artist, Felicia Quicke, will speak on this subject at the next Deanery Ladies’ Breakfast.All ladies are invited to join us for an interesting time of fellowship. The cost is £4 per head, for the “healthy breakfast”.

We invite people from across the Benefice to join us for drinks and other refreshments in the Parsonage garden. Children are welcome.

‘Bloomsbury, Bloodshed and The Bible’

Friday 8th October 2010 at 7.30 pm
The story behind the famous paintings  at Berwick Church introduced by Dame Eileen Atkins.
An unprecedented occasion to be held in this ancient Sussex church; a unique chance to hear the fascinating story of the frescoes made during the Second World War by the Bloomsbury painters Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant. During this special evening, the historical, biblical and spiritual context of these wonderful murals will be illuminated through the contemporary diaries and letters of the artists themselves, as well as through some of their early preparatory drawings and by music and light.
Tickets £15.00 to include a glass of wine or soft drink - Booking opens August 23rd.

Trip To Canterbury Cathedral

Alpha Course

We run periodic Alpha Courses. Each of the talks presents an aspect of the Christian faith in a popular and accessible way. It has been a help to many people both within and outside the church. Each session begins with a meal. This is followed by a DVD presentation and finishes with questions. If you want to know more about the next course please get in touch.
